The Argentine medical-hospital sector promotes its products in the leading health exhibition in Mexico and Central America

13 Argentine companies will participate in Expo Med 2022, from August 31 to September 2 in Mexico City, coordinated by the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship through the Argentine Investment and Trade Promotion Agency.

Buenos Aires, August 31, 2022 – The Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship —through the Argentine Investment and Trade Promotion Agency— coordinates the national presence at Expo Med 2022, the most important fair in Mexico and Central America that brings together doctors, professionals from health and the main providers in the region. The event takes place from August 31 to September 2 in Mexico City.

The Argentine delegation features 13 SMEs that supply medical-hospital supplies and equipment, medical technology for diagnosis and treatment, laboratory equipment, furniture and prosthetics, among others. These companies from Buenos Aires, Santa Fe and Córdoba make up the Argentine Pavilion, which has 90 m2.

As regards his first participation in Expo Med, Federico Otero, from Hipoalergic, stated: “We are very happy to participate, we have great expectations. We hope we can make close some agreements; we have already spoken to some contacts to have a possible first export. This is an important fair.”

Moreover, Joaquín Borgogno, from COYA Software, said: “The company has been in the Argentine market for 20 years, with clients from Jujuy to Tierra del Fuego, and now we are betting on internationalization. As a 2022 goal, we want to expand throughout Latin America and we believe that Expo Med can be the starting point to show our suite of products and services in Mexico.”

Eduardo Tabacman, from AdMouse highlighted: “We already have our distribution channel in Spain and we think the Mexican market is not less important than the Spanish one. With the help of the Argentine Embassy in Mexico, we’ve scheduled a presentation to start building a support network that will later allow us to create the network of distributors in Mexico. The presence at Expo Med will help us connect with interested parties from Central America, where we haven’t had a presence yet.”

The medical equipment and technology sector in Argentina enters the international market as a leading player, with high-standard technical capacity and outstanding workforce as a solid foundation for an export industry.

In this way, the foreign market for Argentine medical equipment is experiencing significant growth in its exports. Between 2016 and 2021, an increase of 51% (+USD 57 million) is registered, mainly driven by the development of high-tech type products. Moreover, oxygen therapy devices (+ USD 38 million); probes, catheters and cannulas (+ USD 3 million); hearing aid parts and accessories (+USD 2 million); and orthopedic items and devices (+ USD 1.6 million) are some of the products that have grown the most for the last five years.

The Argentine Investment and Trade Promotion Agency —dependent on the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship— provides technical and economic assistance so that Argentine SMEs can showcase their products and services at the main international fairs, forums and congresses, and establish direct links with global buyers through business round tables.
