Argentina will participate in the largest franchise event in the Andean region

Six Argentine companies will participate in the National Pavilion at Feria Internacional de Negocios y Franquicias FANYF 2022 (international trade fair for the franchise industry), which will take place on August 24-25 in Bogotá, Colombia.

Buenos Aires, August 23, 2022 – The Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship —through the Argentine Investment and Trade Promotion Agency— will coordinate the national presence at the 14th FANYF, one of the great benchmarks in the Andean region in the international franchise sector.

The Argentine delegation will feature 6 SMEs from Buenos Aires and Córdoba. In this edition, Argentina will have a 36 m2 Pavilion, with workstations available to companies to promote their products and services corresponding to the franchise sector. In addition, the six companies — Eddis Capacitación Laboral, e-ABC Learning, Wilpad, Placas San Francisco, Franquicias que Crecen and Grupo Educativo Fundación Celsius de Capacitación Integral— will have access to the virtual platform of the fair's website.

“This is the first time we have offered our franchise models abroad. It’s a very pleasant experience to have the help of the Agency in this sense, mainly, because we requested a quote to take part in and it cost us approximately five times more,” said Javier Giano, CEO of DigitalMind and representative of Grupo Celsius.

He also added: “It’s a great benefit to participate through this program and a great opportunity to share the pavilion with other Argentine companies, which will not only allow us to participate in the exhibition and show our business model to foreign investors, but also to strengthen institutional links among friendly companies in our country.”

For his part, Ariel Merlino, CEO and owner of Placas San Francisco, highlighted: “With the help of the Agency, we seek to expand the franchise system and have had very good experiences. We’ve been to Mexico, Bolivia, Uruguay and Paraguay and had very interesting results. It’s a very good way to help Argentine companies so that they can really do business abroad.”

The fair FANYF presents the most complete range of business ideas and opportunities to apply in franchises. Franchisors, consultants and new entrepreneurs come together in this event. The Agency will help Argentine companies expand their presence in the Colombian market.

According to data from the Argentine Association of Brands and Franchises (AAMF), in Argentina, there are almost 1,500 franchisors: gastronomic companies 40%, specialized stores 23%, clothing, footwear and fashion 10%, training services 6%, beauty and health services 7%, and the remaining services 14%.

In a survey of 2021, AAMF establishes that 35% of the franchise brands surveyed operate their business model in other countries and have more than 1,058 active franchise outlets. 80% have a presence in Uruguay, 71% in Paraguay, 50% in Chile, 21% in Brazil, Bolivia, Mexico, Colombia and Ecuador, 14% in the US and only 7% in Spain and Central America.

The Argentine Investment and Trade Promotion Agency —dependent on the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship— provides technical and economic assistance so that Argentine SMEs can showcase their products and services at the main international fairs, forums and congresses, and establish direct links with global buyers through business round tables.
