Buenos Aires, August 10th, 2020. From August 4 to 6, the Argentine Agency of Investment and International Trade (AAICI) jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs supported the participation of 16 game industry companies at two key international events: the GDC Summer 2020 and the Meet-To-Match & Indie Game Business - The San Francisco Summer Edition Online 2020.
The Argentine delegation included participants from Mendoza, Cordoba, Santa Fe and the City of Buenos Aires--- they all gathered in a virtual fair Argentine stand, which enabled them to attend professional workshops and sessions, and granted access to the networking platform to set up business meetings with potential buyers primarily from the USA, as well as from Japan, China, France, Canada, Germany, and Poland.
GDC Summer 2020 was the main event, and several Argentine companies participated in it, such as Cosmic Brew Studios, Error 04 Game Studio, Puple Tree, Tlön Industries, Widow Games, Games Andes, Geometric Bytes y Menic Games. For the Meet-To-Match & Indie Game Business - The San Francisco Summer Edition Online 2020 Event, more participants were added like Ingames, Sismo Games, Terra Localizations, Wolves Studios, OneEyeAnt, Parenthesix, Rosario Traducciones y Servicios y Emi Cortés.
Juan Usandivaras, President of the Argentine Agency for Investment and International Trade, stressed: “From the Agency standpoint, we always open up opportunities and provide tools for the companies and entrepreneurs to show their exportable products and services, to do business and establish strong business networks. Thus, we have moved online with many of the previous in-person promotional events and marketing activities.”
The Game Industry in Argentina has been steadily growing for the past 20 years. There are more than 150 companies today that develop videogames and export more than 85% of their production. Not only this is a top export sector, but it is also highly diverse and specialized, with more than 2,000 professionals such as designers, artists, 2D & 3D illustrators, programmers & developers, engineers, script and music writers, among others.
Participation in this activity is framed within the federal international business promotion plan for SMEs conducted by the AAICI and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
